Project Description
SAN DIEGO AIRPORT
OVERVIEW
For 21 years we were under contract to design, install and maintain an interior plant program at all three terminals and offices for the San Diego International Airport.
CHALLENGES
- Create a positive, first and last impression travelers get when they arrive or depart from the Airport
- Give travelers a feeling of tranquility, harmony and serenity.
- Jet engine debris and high traffic flow makes the environment very tough and demanding.
PROCESS
- Created a new design concept featuring larger “eye-catching” plants. Including four, 20-foot preserved palms with attractive colorful underplanting, 12-foot bamboo palms, colored ceramic pots on the bridge-way in Terminal 2.
- Created and maintained an active, detailed inventory of each plant and its location.
- Formed strong working relationships with the cleaning, parking and security personnel to create harmony between SD Airport and Greenleaf IPS.
RESULTS
From the smallest details of plant care to core values built around respect and integrity, we have demonstrated our commitment to exceeding the San Diego Airport’s expectations.
- Continued the constant upgrading of various indoor plants at all three terminals.
- Demonstrated our ability to quickly and effectively deal with unexpected situations, such as damaged plants or broken containers.
- Throughout our contract, we were able to maintain a 48-hour response time.
- Performed regular after-hours cleaning and maintenance for all plants, including late-night installations for on-going projects.
