Project Description
BELCHING BEAVER
OVERVIEW
Local brewery, Belching Beaver, called on us to enhance their newly expanded tasting room, the Tavern & Grill in Vista. The objective was clear, produce a large-scale plant wall that would introduce life to the bare warehouse and dampen the sounds common to brewery settings.
CHALLENGES
- Location was considerably large and required a green wall that would be proportional to the huge space.
- Industrial building was very resonant and needed a solution that would absorb loud noises.
- Client wanted a lush, “Oregon-forest” look to match brewery’s rugged branding.
PROCESS
- Utilized hexagonal structural system where plants are attached to vertical rails and water runs from top to bottom.
- Strategically designed irrigation runoff to fall into a nearby koi pond below plant wall.
- Selected a variety of tropical plants and ferns to give a full appearance.
- All plants were handpicked and pre-planted before arriving on-site.
RESULTS
The finalized plant wall has been successful for several years now. By adding just the right amount of warmth, the live wall is the perfect selfie backdrop for guests and balances the brewery’s industrial setting.
- Our plant wall gives Belching Beaver a competitive edge to other breweries in the area by attracting patrons with the newly added ambiance.
- Plants continue to thrive due to choosing the appropriate structural system and plant selection for the surrounding conditions.
- Background noise was distinctively reduced after installation.
